Important message or Unknown part warning from apple
Important message or Unknown part warning from apple
Why do I get this message?
You may come across an "Important Message" from Apple regarding your battery, display, or camera. These messages are displayed to inform you that repair work has been done on your device, specifically on the replaced component such as battery, screen, or camera (depending on your iPhone model). However, only an Apple Genius Bar or an Apple Authorized Service Provider can replace a component in the latest iPhones without triggering this notification.
How long will these messages be there?
These messages do not affect your device's performance and are visible on the lock screen for 4 days and then for 15 more days in Settings. It is essential to note that getting this message doesn't imply that your battery has any issue or is defective - it only means that it was replaced with a new battery that works as efficiently as the original one.
The types of messages you may see depend on the iOS version you are using. For iOS 15.2 and later, you can go to Settings > General > About > PARTS AND SERVICE HISTORY to see which components, if any, have been replaced. You'll see "Unknown Part" if the component installed is not a genuine Apple part, and "Genuine Apple Part" if the replacement was done using genuine Apple parts and processes. It is important to note that these components are functionally identical to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) equivalents and won't perform any differently, even if replacements are not performed by Apple.

Our refurbished devices may go through repairs to ensure that the device works as intended.
These repairs may use components from other manufacturers or other same model phones. This may prompt some messages on the latest Apple devices stating "Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine...". Please rest assured that our certified technicians only use high quality parts to repair the device and the functionality of the phone will not be impacted by this message.

If your phone's battery seems to run out of juice faster than it should, try these solutions from our in-house tech experts for a quick fix.
Check your batter health
- Go to "Settings" > "Battery" > "Battery Health".
- See the percentage next to “Maximum Battery Capacity”.
- If the capacity is 80% or above, your battery is in good health and performing normally.
Keep in mind that when your battery is replaced by someone outside of Apple, your phone will show a notification that reads "Unknown part" or "Warning message." Don’t panic — this is completely normal and does not affect your device’s performance. Apple programs these messages to appear automatically when their own proprietary parts are not used during repair.
Tips for prolonging battery life
Take care of your battery
Keep it cool
Stay away from situations that can cause your device to overheat. This is particularly important when it’s fully charged. Also, your battery will run out a lot faster when it’s hot outside — even if you aren’t using it.
Optimize your settings to save your battery
You can adjust the following settings on most smartphones:
- Change your auto-lock settings so that your screen turns off sooner when you aren’t using it.
- Dim the screen.
- Set the brightness to automatically change in different lighting.
- Turn off all sounds or vibrations, including your keyboard.
- Leave your most-used apps open at all times.
- Reduce the usage of apps that consume a lot of battery.
- Turn on Low Power Mode or Power-saving Mode.
- Delete any apps you no longer use.
Charge for what you need
Contrary to popular belief, phone batteries don’t need to be charged to 100%.
- Don’t charge your phone to 100%, unless absolutely necessary.
- Don’t allow your battery to get to 0% and turn off.
- Don’t leave your device without a charge for too long.
- Ideally, your phone should always be charged between 20%-80%.
- Prioritize small charges — 20% at a time multiple times a day is best.
General tips for a healthy battery
- Consistently update your apps.
- Keep your software updated to the latest version at all times.
